Final Fantasy XIII Marketing Photo Gallery

With a new Final Fantasy comes the Square-Enix hype machine that, in Japan, covers everything from soda to subway platforms in game related imagery. Anticipation is building for Final Fantasy XIII and stores, fans, and even pop idols are getting ready for the game’s December 17th release in Japan. Below, we present a small sample of the flood of related merchandise and advertising filling Tokyo at the moment.

Last year’s Dissidia Final Fantasy brought two flavors of soda to convenience stores across Japan. While Final Fantasy XIII’s drink, named Elixir, sports only the one flavor, it’s everywhere: game shops, electronics outlets, super markets, and convenience stores. The drink is so popular that the display pictured below, taken at game superstore Sofmap in Akihabara, was disassembled not five minutes after the photo was taken so that its stock could be added to the store’s dwindling sellable supply.
